MONTPELIER, Vt.—A Colorado company has been selected as the apparent low bidder for a new bridge over Lake Champlain.

Flatiron Constructors Inc., of Lafayette, Colo., submitted a bid of $69.7 million to replace the Lake Champlain Bridge, which linked Crown Point, N.Y., and Addison, Vt., for 80 years until it was demolished in December due to safety concerns.

John Zicconi, spokesman for the Vermont Agency of Transportation, said Thursday that it would take three weeks or so for officials to review bid details and firm up their conclusion that Flatiron’s bid was the lowest.

He said it’s unknown yet whether any Vermont or New York subcontractors will get work on the job.
