Copper Mountain is launching a $6 million capital-expenditure program to increase snowmaking and parking at the resort.

Snowmaking capacity will grow by 25 percent, with new systems installed in the Timberline area and additional capacity on already-covered runs. The additional snowmaking is intended to provide better early-season conditions for race camps, training and recreational skiing.

Parking additions include a 40 percent increase in free spaces in the Corn lot and more parking in the Union Creek area.

“The focus on infrastructure enhancements sets the stage for future on-mountain improvements,” said Copper Mountain president and general manager Gary Rodgers.

The snowmaking and parking projects are expected to be completed by Copper’s projected opening date of Nov. 5. Steve Raabe, The Denver Post
