FORT CARSON, Colo.—The Army is activating a new battalion of engineers at Fort Carson.
The 52nd Engineer Battalion of the 555th Engineer Brigade will formally stand up on Friday. The battalion is expected to deploy to Afghanistan in 2012.
Lt. Col. Michael S. Brooks will command the battalion and Command Sgt. Maj. Jeffrey A. Mann will be its senior noncommissioned officer.
