Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice shot a 5-over-par 76 — seven strokes better than his opening 83 — but missed the cut for the Fresh Express Classic on Friday in his Nationwide Tour debut. At 17-over par, Rice, 47, was last among the 152 players to finish both rounds — 30 shots behind leader David Hearn of Canada. “I am going to continue to work on my game,” Rice said. “I learned so much this week. The first day, I made rookie mistakes. . . . It’s just too bad I didn’t make it to the weekend. I had some killer clothes that I was going to wear.”
