CUSTER COUNTY — A man who authorities say was kicked out of a restaurant Saturday night was later shot and killed by a deputy.

The Custer County Sheriff’s Office says the man was asked to leave the Celdor Restaurant, at 213 Main St., after showing a knife and making inappropriate comments toward the women on the staff.

After he was escorted from the restaurant, employees locked the doors, and they say the man urinated on some potted plants. That’s when deputies say they arrived at the scene.

The suspect, deputies said, jumped into his car and drove off but was stopped a few blocks away.

When deputies approached the car, investigators say, the man got out, walked toward deputies and eventually pulled out a knife.

Deputies said the man ignored their instructions to stop, and a 55-year-old deputy shot the man twice in the chest. According to authorities, 57-year-old Sixto Rodri guez of Arlington, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene.
