Getting your player ready...

Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki was shaken by Keli McGregor’s sudden death. He wanted to play Tuesday night to honor the Rockies’ president, and he provided a memory by clubbing a second-inning home run to give the Rockies a lead they would never relinquish.

Lots of Mora.

Melvin Mora responded to his fourth start with his best game as a Rockie. The second baseman, who spent the bulk of his career in nearby Baltimore, reached base safely in his first four plate appearances, including a triple.

Breaking the trend.

Ryan Spilborghs was 7-for-9 lifetime against Nationals starter Scott Olsen before Tuesday’s game. So, of course, he went 0-for-2, then promptly homered off reliever Tyler Walker in the third inning.
