The executive director of Colorado’s Department of Natural Resources has been appointed by President Barack Obama to head the regional office of the Environmental Protection Agency.

James B. Martin, who only recently moved to the DNR from running the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, was selected as administrator of EPA Region 8. Region 8 includes Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming and 27 Tribal Nations.

Martin, former state director for then U.S. Sen. Tim Wirth, also previously ran the Natural Resources Law Center at the University of Colorado College of Law.
