FORT CARSON, Colo.—Fort Carson is formally breaking ground on a new child-development center with activity areas for about 230 children from 6 weeks through 5 years old.

The ceremony will be Thursday.

Fort Carson says the building qualifies for silver certification under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design or LEED program of the U.S. Green Building Council.

Its energy features include radiant floor heating, a geothermal ground source heat pump and solar water heating.

Brig. Gen. James Pasquarette, the deputy commanding general for support for Fort Carson and the 4th Infantry Division, and Command Sgt. Maj. Daniel Dailey will participate in the groundbreaking.
