Three inmates at Four Mile Correctional Center in Cañon City have confirmed cases of E. coli, the Colorado Department of Corrections said Friday.
Corrections spokeswoman Katherine Sanguinetti said the outbreak was discovered Thursday. The three inmates are being treated at the center’s infirmary.
Sanguinetti said eight other inmates are thought to have E. coli.
Sanguinetti said the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is at the prison investigating the source of the infection, which is unknown.
