BOULDER — Traci Housman was sentenced to seven years of probation on Friday.
The 27-year-old Boulder woman told the court that she never meant to kill her husband, John Housman, on a night in August when they got into an explosive argument.
In addition to the long probation term, Housman must complete 400 hours of community service and serve a 90-day sentence in the Boulder County Jail’s work-release program, which will be suspended once she finds permanent employment.
Boulder County District Court Judge Maria Berkenkotter said probation and community service were appropriate sentences because no one believes Housman meant to kill her husband.
According to police, Housman stabbed her husband once in the chest with a kitchen knife during an argument in their 2994 23rd St. home early Aug. 2.Vanessa Miller, The Daily Camera
