Los Angeles Dodgers manager Joe Torre said he sent Manny Ramirez home to L.A. to get treatment on his strained right calf, avoiding “a circus” when the team goes to New York to play the Mets. Torre said it didn’t make sense to keep the veteran outfielder around for the rest of the Dodgers’ road trip — especially in New York, “where it would be a little bit of a circus.” Torre spoke with reporters Saturday in Washington before the Dodgers’ game against the Nationals. The Dodgers will take a train to New York to open a three-game series Monday. Ramirez went on the 15-day disabled list Friday.
