BRECKENRIDGE, Colo.—Officials say a man seen with a gun in a pickup outside a Summit County high school was an avid hunter who was picking up his daughter, and they don’t believe he was a threat.
Two Summit County High School students said they saw a man in a pickup with a rifle on Monday, prompting officials to lock down several schools.
The sheriff’s department says after interviewing the man, they determined he was not a threat. His name hasn’t been released.
School district officials provided extra surveillance for after-school activities Monday and some activities were canceled.
The district attorney’s office is reviewing the case but hasn’t determined whether charges will be filed.
