Boulder Brew and Music Festival seems like a no-brainer, given our well-documented love of suds and tunes, but organizers didn’t just stumble onto a pile of kegs and guitars and call it an event. More than two dozen breweries will be represented at the Fox Theatre on Saturday, with live music from locals the M.T.H.D.S., Umconscious, Speakeasy Tiger, Vices I Admire, My Own Device and Josh McWilliams. Tastings start at 1 p.m. and the music begins at 6 p.m. $15-$35 for variously packaged tickets.
Lion Sized, like a lot of great rock bands, makes an awful lot of racket with only three people. The Denver post-punk act churns out short songs that careen wildly through thorny walls of guitar and shouted vocals while gripping the wheel with a white-knuckled tension. Chalk that up partly to the pedigree of its members, who have played in such stellar local acts as Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, d. biddle and others. The band will celebrate the release of its new EP, “Cough Up Your Teeth,” Saturday at the Hi-Dive with Glass Hits and Accordion Crimes. $6.
