Frontier Airlines’ newest “spokesanimal”a badger — was unveiled Thursday on the tail of the carrier’s newest aircraft.

The critter lacks a name, and Wisconsin residents are being given the opportunity to name it. Wisconsin, which is nicknamed “the Badger State,” is the birthplace of Midwest Airlines, which is being integrated into Frontier.

Frontier and Midwest were purchased last year by Republic Airways, based in Indianapolis. On April 13, Republic officials announced the two carriers would be known as Frontier.

Entries may be submitted until May 24 at . Suggestions will be pared to three, with deciding votes cast from May 28 through July 4. The winner will be announced July 5.

The badger-bearing Embraer 190 aircraft goes into service Saturday, joining a well-known zoo of animals that adorn Frontier’s planes and are featured in its advertising. The Denver Post
