FORT CARSON — The Department of Defense says a 24-year- old Fort Carson soldier from Pennsylvania was killed in Afghanistan.

Military officials announced Friday that Sgt. Nathan P. Kennedy was killed Tuesday by small-arms fire during an attack on his unit near Quarando Village.

Kennedy was from Claysville, Pa. He served with Fort Carson’s 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.
