The Colorado State softball team tied an NCAA record Saturday by hitting five home runs in one inning of a 16-2 rout of Utah in Salt Lake City.

The Rams (27-18, 5-6 Mountain West Conference) hit five of their six homers during the first inning, tying the record set by Creighton.

CSU junior Caitlan Stem led off the game with her eighth homer of the season and hit her team-leading ninth homer later in the first inning. Christine Thom- sen, Allison Majam and Robyn Mask also hit first- inning homers for the Rams. Thomsen hit her second homer of the game in the second inning.

CSU sophomore Kelli Eubanks pitched her 19th complete game of the season and improved to 21-11.

“Taking two of three (games) from Utah (24-25, 4-7) helped us stay in the conference race,” CSU coach Mary Yori said.
