BANGKOK — Thailand’s prime minister, facing demands for new elections, on Monday proposed a Nov. 14 date for fresh polls if anti- government protesters accept his reconciliation plan, and peace and stability is restored. Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva made the offer in a speech Monday night, eight weeks into a standoff with demonstrators that has resulted in 27 deaths. A Red Shirt protest leader, Jatuporn Prompan, said the group would give its response today.
