Granada won’t be defending its Class 1A baseball championship. And Baca County won’t be the favorite to fill the vacated slot.
Neither Granada nor Baca County made the field of eight teams for 1A’s state tournament when Eads and Holly snapped up District 3’s two bids. (.)
Baca County had been unbeaten and was the No. 1 team in last week’s Denver Post/9News 1A rankings, before losing in district play.
Eads (6-5) won back-to-back titles from 2007-08. The Eagles, champions of District 3, will play District 2 No. 3 Elbert at 10 a.m. Saturday at Thomas Jefferson High School.
Holly will play at District 1 No. 1 Nucla at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Englewood High School.
The 1A championship will be at 11 a.m. on May 22 at Englewood High School.
