A toddler badly burned in a garage fire in Fort Collins on March 21 died last weekend in a California hospital, a family member told the Fort Collins Coloradoan Wednesday.

Trenton Viney, who was 23 months old, had burns to more than 60 percent of his body, He was airlifted to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children-Northern California in Sacramento, Calif.

Family member Heidi Collins said the child died after a cardiac arrest, after his kidneys had failed last week. The child had undergone multiple skin grafts.

“He went to sleep and passed quietly.” Collins told the Coloradoan.

Funeral services are pending.

Trenton and his father, Josh, were burned when a garage space heater ignited a gas can that was possibly knocked over by a dog.

The boy’s father was working on a Jeep.
