NBA star LeBron James isn’t listening to the nationwide criticism of his listless Game 5 playoff performance against Boston.
Instead, the two-time league MVP is focusing on delivering tonight in Game 6 (6 p.m., ESPN) in Boston as the Cavaliers try to fight off elimination. James scored just 15 points Tuesday night in a 120-88 loss to the Celtics, the largest home playoff loss in Cleveland history. James chalked up what could have been his final home game with the Cavaliers to an “off” night.
After practice Wednesday, he was asked why Cleveland fans, who booed him and the Cavaliers during the Game 5 debacle, should be confident. “They got me,” he said.
James said his cool postgame disposition, which was puzzling to some considering the 32-point loss, was nothing new.
“I’m not going to show you that I’m angry. If I show a sense of panic, guys follow my lead,” he said. “If I come over here and panic and say, ‘We lost by 30 and we don’t know what to do,’ that’s not right. It’s not who I am. It’s never been who I am.”
