DENVER—Lockheed Martin is pledging money and volunteer support for the Denver School of Science and Technology.

On Thursday, Lockheed Martin Space Systems of Jefferson County will announce what it says is a “large financial pledge” to the school. Company officials say it will also make a five-year commitment of volunteer support from Lockheed Martin’s 4,300 Colorado-based employees, half of whom are engineers or scientists.

Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper is among the elected officials scheduled to be on hand for the announcement.

The Denver charter school was one of a handful nationwide in the running to win a commencement speech delivered by President Barack Obama.
