The family of slain 12-year-old Kayleah Wilson this evening canceled a press conference planned for Monday.
“The family is not prepared to speak tomorrow,” family friend Kristopher Poskey said in an e-mail.
Instead, the family invited the public to a memorial service for the girl Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Clarion Inn ballroom at 701 8th St. in Greeley.
Kayleah disappeared on March 28. Her decomposed body was found in an irrigation ditch in Greeley on Wednesday, about a mile from where she was last seen walking to a friend’s birthday party.
Authorities have said her death was not accidental.
Fourteen hours later her alleged boyfriend, 18-year-old Robert Laurencio Montoya, was arrested on sex abuse charges related to Kayleah, but he has not been named a suspect in her disappearance and death.
Montoya is being held in the Weld County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
