A man who led police on a high-
speed chase during which a Douglas County deputy sheriff was shot was sentenced Tuesday to 45 years in prison.
The man, Taylor Lynn Moudy, 20, was convicted in March of two counts of attempted second-degree murder and two counts of first-
degree assault.
During the June 28, 2008, chase down Colorado 105 in Douglas County, Deputy Todd Tucker was wounded in the arm by a shot from an assault rifle.
Moudy was one of two men who embarked on a crime spree in May and June 2008. The pair allegedly stole numerous vehicles, broke into homes and garages, stole electronics and checkbooks and swiped semiautomatic guns and rifles from area businesses.
Moudy was also convicted of 10 counts of burglary and 18 counts of aggravated motor-vehicle theft stemming from the crimes.
In a separate trial, Moudy was convicted of aggravated robbery and second-degree kidnapping for his role in the robbery of a Circle K store in Castle Rock.
Douglas County District Judge Nancy Hopf ruled the sentences on the burglary, aggravated motor-vehicle theft and second-degree kidnapping counts should run concurrently to the attempted-murder and assault counts.
In a statement, Douglas County Undersheriff Tony Spurlock said the chase was a reminder of how dangerous it is to work in law enforcement and of “the dangers that lurk in our community.”
