Denver International Airport’s operating revenues rose 4.4 percent in 2009, with officials attributing the increase to facility rentals and landing fees.

However, a 2.1 percent drop in passenger traffic in 2009 decreased revenues from concessions, parking, aviation fuel tax and rental cars, according to a report published by DIA this week.

Audited financial statements showed operating revenues increased $23.7 million to $564.5 million in 2009.

Operating expenses, excluding depreciation and amortization, increased 1.5 percent, or $5.7 million, to $379.5 million.

DIA officials said the increase was due to higher costs for shuttle buses, city service charges, commercial chemicals and solvents, and major repair and maintenance expenses.
