GREELEY, Colo.—A Greeley man accused of crimes including arranging a brutal beating of an inmate has been sentenced to 25 years in prison, followed by five years on parole.

A judge sentenced 30-year-old Michael Cole on Wednesday. He had pleaded guilty to felony menacing, retaliation against a witness, first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft and first-degree assault.

Weld County prosecutors say that using his position in a gang, Cole arranged for another inmate to attack 35-year-old Michael Gonzales. Investigators say Gonzales was a gang member who was a witness in other cases against Cole.
