A Jefferson County jury Thursday acquitted a Denver woman on charges that she hired a hit man to kill her ex-husband, Aspen prosecutor Richard Nedlin.
It was the second trial in the case against Elinor Dvir. The first trial in April resulted in a hung jury.
Nedlin could not be reached Thursday. His superior at the Pitkin County district attorney’s office, prosecutor Arnold Mordkin, said: “He’s disappointed, as I am. But it is what it is.” An e-mail and telephone message left with Dvir’s public defender were not returned.
Dvir had been held in the Jefferson County Detention Center since she was arrested in April 2009. Prosecutors said she offered $2,000 to an undercover police officer to kill Nedlin.
She was charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder in a ploy to win a custody battle for her children. Aspen Times
