Vail Resorts said Friday that it has acquired Mountain News Corp., operator of the snow-sports website .
Terms of the deal were not announced. Mountain News is based in Orinda, Calif., where its offices and staff will remain. Vail said the firm will operate separately and independently from Vail Resorts’ five mountain resorts and lodging and real estate businesses.
