Denver police are investigating an undisclosed incident involving Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Vicente Padilla early this morning at the downtown Ritz Carlton hotel, a police spokesman said today.
The incident occurred at 3:51 a.m. but details will not be available until a 4 p.m. police news conference today, police spokesperson Leslie Branchwise said.
The Dodgers are in town to play a series with the Colorado Rockies.
Although he has been travelling with his team, Padilla has been on the disabled list since April 22 with forearm soreness. He was to throw a 45-pitch simulated game today.
Padilla, 32, is from Nicaragua. He was the Dodgers’ opening game pitcher this season.
Manager Joe Torre is expected to have a statement before tonight’s 6:10 game.
