NEW YORK — Indians pitcher David Huff was back with the team only a few hours after he was hit above the left ear by Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez’s line drive Saturday and carted off the field.

Huff was taken to a Manhattan hospital for a CT scan, which was negative. The Indians said the left-hander never lost consciousness or experienced memory loss.

Yankees reliever Dave Robertson left in midgame because of a mild lower-back strain.

Hunter hit on hand.

Angels center fielder Torii Hunter left the game against the Mariners with a bruised left hand after getting hit by a pitch from Felix Hernandez. X-rays were negative, and Hunter is day to day. The three-time all-star is batting .272 with seven homers. Footnotes.

The Giants promoted catcher Buster Posey and optioned right-hander Waldis Joaquin to Triple-A Fresno. Also, the team signed free- agent outfielder Pat Burrell to a minor-league contract.

• The Cardinals recalled right-hander Adam Ottavino and purchased the contract of left-hander Evan MacLane from Triple-A Memphis.
