A couple was injured in a house fire today that gutted their Adams County home.

The fire started at about 11:15 a.m. at 7140 Larsh Drive, said Capt. Ken Kapelke of Southwest Adams County Fire Rescue.

A man at the home burned by the fire was taken to a local hospital, Kapelke said. Details on his injuries were not available. His wife was also taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Both were treated and released.

It took about 30 firefighters 90 minutes to put out the blaze. Firefighters from Westminster and North Washington fire departments aided Southwest Adams, Kapelke said.

The American Red Cross Mile High Chapter is assisting the couple who were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
