FORT COLLINS — A man with a knife tried to kidnap a 21-year-old woman riding her bicycle Thursday morning, police said.
She was on South Shields Street at Hill Pond Road about 6:30 a.m. when a man driving an older, white station wagon with rust spots stopped her.
Thinking the man needed help, the woman got off her bike and approached the driver, who had gotten out of his car. She saw he had a knife, turned to run and fell, police said. Two people driving by stopped to help the woman, who was not injured.
The man got back in his car and fled the scene. He spoke heavily accented English, she said.
The suspect is a Latino in his 20s, with short hair or a shaved head. He is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 225 pounds. He was wearing bluejeans shorts and a blue shirt.
Anyone with information is asked to call police Detective Neal Hisam at 970-224-6116. Heather McWilliams, The Denver Post
