The body of an Aspen-area man who was rafting with two friends was recovered shortly before noon in the Eagle River, authorities say.
The identity of the man, who was in his 40s, has not been released, according to a news release.
The man was rafting with two friends when their raft pitched and overturned in Dowd Junction.
The two friends climbed to shore and called 911 for help. The victim was an experienced rafter and was wearing a life preserver.
The men were not affiliated with the Teva Mountain Games or a private rafting company.
The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Vail Mountain Rescue Group, Avon Police Department, Minturn Police Department, Eagle River Fire Protection District, Vail Fire Department and the Eastern Eagle County Ambulance District helped search for the body.
