Armando Galarraga’s game won’t make the record book. But it’s headed for the Hall of Fame, which will receive the spikes Galarraga wore when he pitched Wednesday’s game. It will also get the first-base bag — the one where Jim Joyce’s missed call occurred. Galarraga’s effort might endure atop “imperfect” annals with the performance of Pittsburgh’s Harvey Haddix in 1959 against the Milwaukee Braves. Haddix pitched 12 perfect innings, lost the perfect game in the 13th on an error, and lost the game, 1-0, later that inning. The Hall of Fame has several artifacts on display from Haddix’s game.
