LIMON, Colo.—It was 20 years ago that a savage tornado ripped through Limon. On Sunday the eastern Colorado town is remembering the storm by celebrating an old train depot that was one of the few historic structures to survive.
Much of Limon was flattened on June 6, 1990. One of the few standing historic structures was the depot, which has been restored to its 1940s heydey as a stop on the Union Pacific railraod.
Town officials gather at the restored depot Sunday afternoon to mark the anniversary of the tornado, which injured 14 people.
