Matt Brown had five goals and an assist and Brendan Mundorf added four goals and three assists to lead the Denver Outlaws to a 15-10 victory over the Long Island Lizards in a Major League Lacrosse match Saturday night.
While the two attackmen paced the offense, the visiting Outlaws got an excellent team effort on defense, holding the Lizards to one goal in the second period while building an 8-3 halftime lead.
Area triathlete shines in Spain.
Sarah Haskins of Colorado Springs placed fifth, her third consecutive top-10 finish, in the Triathlon ITU World Championship Series in Madrid.
Haskins jumped from eighth to fourth place in the series standings. The Olympian from the Beijing Games finished the Olympic-distance event in 2 hours, 6 minutes, 48 seconds — 47 seconds behind winner Nicola Spirig of Switzerland.
