BROOMFIELD — A growing Boulder-based software company is considering a move to Broomfield that could shift 200 jobs down U.S. 36.
Webroot is the beneficiary of a deal approved Tuesday by the Broomfield City Council that will cut the company’s tax bill over the next 10 years by $95,000 if it employs at least 220 people in Broomfield by the end of the year.
Webroot is looking at renting a 105,000-square-foot space at 385 Interlocken Crescent. The 11-story, 285,000-square-foot building, named Central Park Tower at Interlocken by its developers, is scheduled to be completed by July. No other tenants have announced they are moving in.
The City Council voted unanimously to approve the measure.
Webroot has tried to keep its search for new offices quiet. Two executives attended the meeting but did not provide testimony.
A spokeswoman would not say if the company is expanding or relocating. While the deal with Broomfield has been approved, the company has yet to sign a lease.
“Webroot is growing globally, including here in Colorado,” company spokeswoman MacLean Guthrie said. “We are currently exploring our options for first-rate office space throughout the Boulder area.”
The company employs about 200 people in Boulder and about 400 worldwide, Guthrie said.
Broomfield officials say they are optimistic Webroot’s corporate headquarters are headed to Interlocken. Webroot has told the city it could have up to 400 employees in Broomfield in the next few years, City and County Manager George Di Ciero said.
