Colorado State athletic director Paul Kowalczyk said Tuesday the CSU athletic department will finish the fiscal year in the black.
Exact figures won’t be available until all the bills clear, but Kowalcyzk said the Rams’ $21.5 million budget would have ended with a profit even without the Bowl Championship Series money from Mountain West Conference member Texas Christian. Each MWC school draws an estimated $500,000 distribution when a member qualifies for a BCS game. Although CSU doesn’t fill up Hughes Stadium for football games or Moby Arena for basketball games, Kowalczyk said, “We manage our money here.”
CSU’s athletic director also said revenue from ticket sales is running about 5 percent ahead of last year. Unlike a year ago, CSU has the football game against Colorado in its 2010 ticket package.
Miami (Ohio) announced that the starting time for CSU’s Sept. 18 football game against the RedHawks in Oxford, Ohio, is 1:30 p.m. MDT. Natalie Meisler, The Denver Post
