DETROIT — Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera left Friday’s 7-5 victory over the Diamondbacks because of dizziness.

Cabrera went 0-for-1 with a walk in two plate appearances against former teammate Dontrelle Willis before being replaced by Don Kelly for the top of the fifth inning. Cabrera is day to day.

Tigers catcher Gerald Laird was a late scratch with neck stiffness.

Drew strains hamstring

BOSTON — Red Sox right fielder J.D. Drew strained his right hamstring running after Manny Ramirez’s line drive and left Boston’s 10-6 victory over the Dodgers.

Drew made the catch for the final out in the third inning. Former Cherry Creek High School standout Darnell McDonald pinch hit for him in the bottom half.

Twins activate second baseman Hudson

PHILADELPHIA — The Twins activated second baseman Orlando Hudson from the disabled list and placed pitcher Jose Mijares on the family medical emergency list.

Hudson was placed on the disabled list June 8 with a sprained left wrist and missed nine games. He went 0-for-5 with an RBI in Minnesota’s 9-5 loss to the Phillies.

Mijares flew to Venezuela after Thursday’s game to attend to a personal family matter.

Sweeney rejoins Mariners

SEATTLE — The Mariners activated designated hitter Mike Sweeney (lower back) from the 15-day DL and optioned former Heritage High School left-hander Luke French to Triple-A Tacoma.
