Two men were arrested early Friday morning after a short chase on Interstate 25 in Douglas County, authorities said.

Deputies attempted to pull over a vehicle that was reported stolen and was driving erratically just after 1:15 a.m. The deputies called for backup, and officers from Palmer Lake Department assisted by putting spike strips ahead of the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

One tire was deflated, but the vehicle continued onward.

After the vehicle took an exit on Baptist Road that ended up at a dead end, two men in the vehicle attempted to flee on foot, the sheriff’s office reported.

When deputies caught the men, they were arrested on multiple charges, including resisting arrest and theft by receiving. The driver, Vakhom Xayamoungkhoun, 29 of Arvada, was also charged with DUI.

The passenger was identified as William Parker, 23 of Denver.
