The Park People and Denver Parks and Recreation are offering a second round of Community Forester Training Programs. The classes train citizens in tree planting, health, biology, identification, pruning and more. Once trained, Community Foresters can lead and participate in tree planting and care projects in their neighborhoods along with activities for the Park People, Denver’s Forestry Division and the Mile High Million tree planting initiative. The first class, “Trees 101,” is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Other class dates: July 24, Aug. 28, Sept. 25 and Oct. 9. To become a Community Forester, participants must complete all sessions. However, individuals may take “Trees 101” and at least one other class to become a Tree Steward. Visit for more information.

The Autism Society and AMC Entertainment have partnered to bring families affected by autism and other disabilities a special monthly movie opportunity. The “Sensory Friendly Films” program is geared at providing a comfortable setting for children with special needs. Families are welcome to bring in snacks and food, and there will be no previews or advertisements shown. The lights will remain on, and the sound will be lowered. This month’s movie is the recently released “Toy Story 3.” The movie begins at 10 a.m. at three theaters, including AMC Flatiron 14, 61 W.
