Saturday was not Jason Preeo’s day at the beach. The golf instructor at Meta-Golf Learning Center in Englewood was roughed up at the U.S. Open after starting the tournament in good shape.
Preeo, who also coaches boys golf at Valor Christian High School, was tied for 16th at 3-over-par 145 after two rounds.
After parring the first four holes Saturday, Preeo went bogey, bogey, par, quadruple bogey and bogey to finish the front nine at 7-over 42. He shot a 40 on the back nine to finish at 11-over 82. His 14-over total is tied for 73rd.
“Today is pretty disappointing to not play that much worse but enough worse that it leaves a sour taste,” Preeo said. “I’m glad it wasn’t the last round.”
