The final phase of what officials hope will ease traffic congestion at one of south metro Denver’s busiest intersections broke ground Monday.
The ceremony was for improvements to the Parker and Arapahoe roads interchange. The project, estimated to cost $32 million, calls for a grade-separated interchange that will carry motorists on Parker Road up and over Arapahoe Road.
According to officials, the project will be a full interchange with ramps and only a few traffic lights.
During heavy traffic, it now can take numerous traffic cycles to make it through the intersection.
Officials say 110,000 vehicles pass through the interchange daily and projections call for 170,000 vehicles by 2030.
