A man believed to be the “Perennial Bandit,” who investigators say committed five bank robberies in the Denver area, was arrested early Friday morning, according to the FBI.

The suspect, identified as Shaun Michael Gay, 23, was arrested in the 1400 block of Steele Street by the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force and the Denver Police Department.

Gay was arrested on an outstanding warrant for escape from the Colorado Department of Corrections, according to FBI spokesman Dave Joly.

Authorities dubbed the robber the “Perennial Bandit” after he robbed the same bank one year after he first robbed it.
