Miriam Gallegos pleaded guilty Friday in Denver District Court to child abuse resulting in the 2007 death of her daughter Neveah Gallegos.
Neveah, 3, was first reported kidnapped by her mother, but police believe the girl was killed by Gallegos’ boyfriend, Angel Montoya, who was babysitting the girl alone.
As part of her plea agreement, she may be expected to testify against Montoya.
Miriam Gallegos knew Montoya had been convicted of child abuse and indecent exposure and that he wasn’t supposed to be around children, but she left him with her daughter while she was at work.
Miriam Gallegos helped Montoya stuff Neveah’s body into a trash bag and then a duffel bag when she returned from work, according to an indictment.
Police found Neveah’s body covered with debris in the 1100 block of Perry Street three days after Gallegos reported she had been kidnapped.
Gallegos will be sentenced Sept. 2 at 1:30 p.m.
Montoya is charged with first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death.
He has a two-day motions hearing scheduled Aug. 9 and 10, and no trial date has been set.
