Getting your player ready...

Tebow Time is not now.

“I played football in elementary school with the guys, so I’ve got the basics of the game down. I decided I like Broncos rookie Tim Tebow. I heard he is a great Christian and was a great quarterback at Florida. So I have a bone to pick after you wrote: ‘This shiny, happy, new No. 15 for the Broncos has real potential to instigate far more discord in the locker room than Brandon Marshall ever did with his stupid human tricks.’ How in the world do you think that? If you want to make derogatory comments about my man Tebow, you should get some facts.”

Meg, Chatfield High School

Kiz: In the final year of his contract with the Broncos, cornerback Champ Bailey cannot afford to be living on Tebow Time. The life of an NFL veteran is too short to be wasted with on-the-job training for a young quarterback. Should Denver succumb to public pressure and play Tebow before his time, team morale could sink lower than the rookie’s QB rating.

Tebow not ready to shine.

“I am so tired of the Tebow Admiration Society. He has not played one NFL game. Let’s give Brady Quinn an equal opportunity.”

Lou, greetings from O-hi-o

Kiz: The biggest impact Tebow has had on the team since being drafted is to raise coach Josh McDaniels’ appreciation for veteran Kyle Orton. Hand the keys to the Denver offense to a rookie QB and the Broncos would be driving with training wheels. That’s a good way to end up in the ditch.

Red Sox Nation supports team.

“I am a Red Sox fan and was disappointed to read your column about ‘Fenway West.’ Sounds like sour grapes to me. It seems you are jealous that there were so many Sox fans in attendance. Maybe you are talking like this because if Colorado came to the real Fenway, 40 Rockies fans would be there, and they would most likely be relatives of players.”

Frank, Chicopee, Mass.

Kiz: Know the only difference between Yankees fans who act like they invented the game and arrogant Red Sox supporters? Hint: What’s the significance of 27-7? The Yankees have won the World Series 20 more times than the Sox.

CU to get Pac-10 education.

“Glad everyone is excited right now about Colorado’s new relationship with the Pac-10 Conference. Will they feel the same way when the Buffs become the conference’s new bottom feeder? I have always been confused with CU’s goals in football and other sports. For some reason, CU alums have the attitude their teams are not all that bad. I guess that depends on your standards. Continue to inform us of Colorado’s new excuses when the Buffs will no longer be able to blame academics, soon-to-be-former coach Dan Hawkins or lack of access to potential recruits from California high schools.”

Bill, Fort Collins

Kiz: Pac-10 football promises to be an educational experience for the Buffs. One touchdown at a time, CU boosters will learn every note of the USC fight song by heart.

Hey, Kiz, stop picking on Buffs.

“As graduates of CU, we believe it’s now time you back off your bashing of the move to the Pac-10 and give the Buffs the opportunity to see if the latest decision will eventually be a positive step for the entire university. We believe connections to universities that seem more in line with CU might give the Buffs that opportunity. Maybe a fresh start will finally get everyone at CU on the same page and make us all proud of our flagship university.”

Terry and Carole, Class of 1973

Kiz: Be loud, be proud. From Day One, CU has a real shot at knocking off Arizona State as the Pac-10’s top party school.

Kiz, you must be dee-ranged

And today’s parting shot declares that the thinking at Kickin’ It Headquarters has gone in the tank, because why else would anyone suggest that Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony make the Nuggets squirm with a threat to become a free agent?

“You say Melo would be a fool to sign a $65 million contract extension offered by the Nuggets? In the words of John Cleese, are you dee-ranged? Melo is not King James. Teams would fawn over the prospect of Anthony as an unrestricted free agent, but nowhere near the LeBron James level.”

Peter, fiscally responsible
