BOULDER — A man who was simul-climbing with a companion on the Redgarden Wall rock formation in Eldorado Canyon State Park on Saturday morning injured his head after falling 80 to 100 feet and was listed in critical condition, the Camera reported.
Tom Karpeichik was flown by helicopter to St. Anthony Central Hospital after he showed signs of being disoriented after the fall on the Redguard route, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office told the newspaper.
Karpeichik’s climbing partner, Bill Wright, was forced to fall from the cliff when Karpeichik began falling as the two men were tied together as part of their efforts to scale the wall at the same time, officials told the Camera. Wright was not injured.
