Fort Collins police are investigating a shooting involving an officer that sent an armed suspect to the hospital this morning.

Officers investigating a report of a disturbance between a man and a woman encountered an armed man when they arrived at the 1600 block of West Mountain Ave. at about 7 a.m., according to a release.

Shots were fired and the wounded man taken to Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment. Police believe the man, who they haven’t identified, is in his twenties.

The officer, who also hasn’t been identified, has been placed on paid administrative leave, a standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
