A 23-year-old man from Loveland drowned during a tubing accident late Sunday on the Big Thompson River, the Larimer County Coroner’s Office said today.

The drowning victim was identified as Curt A. Stevens, who had gone tubing in the Big Thompson near Namaqua Park in Loveland, according to the coroner’s office.

He had been tubing with a friend but had become separated.

According to the coroner’s office, an autopsy indicated that Stevens died around 6 p.m. Sunday. His body was found about 7:50 p.m at a dam located just northeast of a bicycle trail in the 400 block of Wilson in Loveland.

The coroner’s office ruled the manner of death as an accident and the cause as drowning.
