DENVER—The Denver district attorney has charged a man and a woman with child abuse for allegedly growing marijuana in the home they shared with three children.
The district attorney’s office says Joseph Daniel Lightfoot and Amber Brooke Wildenstein, both 29, were charged Wednesday with one count of child abuse each
Authorities say the couple operate a licensed marijuana growing operation in their home where children ages 7, 9 and 11 also live. Each has been released from jail on $50,000 bond.
Under state law, a person commits child abuse if the person manufactures a controlled substance in the presence of a child or where a child is found or lives.
Colorado allows marijuana to be used for medical purposes. There are several dispensaries and growing operations statewide.
