Air Force men’s basketball coach Jeff Reynolds will have eight freshmen on his 2010-11 team, including six who arrived at the academy from the AFA Prep School. The eight freshmen are in basic cadet training.
The two newcomers from high school programs are Chase Kammerer, a 6-foot-8 forward from Montgomery, Texas, and Sean Bowman, a 6-7 forward from Houston.
Freshmen coming from the AFA Prep School are Ethan Michael, a 6-7 forward from Toledo, Ohio; Deshawn Williams, a 6-2 guard from Portsmouth, Va.; Myles Jerrett, a 6-5 forward from Chino Hills, Calif.; Chris Blake, a 6-7 forward from San Antonio; Jamil Bailey, a 6-4 guard from Dallas; and Bryce Brady, a 6-3 guard from Chatsworth, Calif.

Colorado State women’s basketball coach Kristen Holt hired Corey Steven as the team’s director of operations.
Steven joins the Rams after working for the Sony Ericsson tennis tournament and Orange Bowl Committee in Florida.
Arp advances at Pinehurst.
Fresh off his win Sunday at the Colorado Golf Association’s Public Links Championship, Riley Arp of Fort Collins advanced at the North & South Men’s Amateur Championship at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina.
Arp, the 12th seed, defeated No. 53 Scott Barton of Dallas 3 and 2 in the first round of match play.
Arp faces No. 44 Logan Harrell of Huntersville, N.C. today.
Wills promoted at DU.
The University of Denver promoted Devon Wills to a full-time assistant coach on the DU women’s lacrosse team. The former Dartmouth star from Colorado Academy had been a volunteer assistant on the DU coaching staff.
Wills has played on the U.S. national team, earning player of the match honors in the Americans’ 8-7 victory over Australia in the championship game of the 2009 World Cup.

Colton Wulf of Wheat Ridge is one of six freshmen on the Air Force men’s gymnastics team. The others are Tyler Huebner of San Antonio; Mac Ritchie of Concord, N.C.; Ben Zaiser of Mars, Pa.; Kyle Baker of Union, Ky.; and Patrick Duffy of Albuquerque.
Air Force coach Kip Simons said the freshmen add the depth “we need to get our program to the NCAA championships. I can see Mac, Tyler, Kyle, Ben and Patrick being used on several events throughout their freshman year, while I expect Colton to be doing the all-around,” Simons said.
Recruits help CSU-Pueblo reload.
CSU-Pueblo baseball coach Stan Sanchez signed 13 recruits, including four Coloradans.
Junior college transfers from Trinidad State are shortstop Derek DiCarlo (Monarch High School), who hit .299 last season; infielder Vinnie Mattivi (Pueblo South), a two-year starter; and right-handed pitcher Jordan Romine (Lamar), who went 2-1 with a 3.94 ERA as a reliever. Right-hander Willie Lown, an all-South Central League pitcher from Pueblo South, arrives as a freshman.
